This year, artists may enter the prize by submitting a disc of their work or works, with the closing date, 12th October 2009, (A limit of two paintings per artist can be submitted.) Successful artists will be contacted on the 26th October 2009 and delivery of their paintings will be Monday the 9th November 2009 from 10am -5pm to

Judging will be Friday 6th November and the finalists will be posted on our website later that evening and listed in the Sydney Morning Herald under PUBLIC NOTICES on Saturday 7th November 2009.
Non finalists will not be contacted and must organize for the collection of paintings on Saturday 7th November and Sunday 8th November from 10am-5pm at MENZIES ART BRANDS GALLERY. For professional art courier ONLY collection will be Monday 9th November 10am-5pm at

The PADDINGTON ART
PRIZE was established by Marlene Antico in 2004. This $20,000 acquisitive prize is awarded annually
for a painting inspired by the Australian landscape.
An exciting addition to the Australian Arts calendar, the PADDINGTON
ART PRIZE takes its place among the country's most lucrative and
highly coveted painting prizes. The prize encourages the interpretation
of the landscape as a significant contemporary genre, its long tradition
in Australian painting as a key contributor to our national ethos,
and is a positive initiative in private patronage of the arts in
Australia.
This NATIONAL ART PRIZE is open to Australian citizens and residents
of 12 months or more who are over the age of eighteen. The prize
has been developed to push through existing barriers caused by monetary
difficulties that impede artists from showcasing their works. The
prize also aims to discover new talents and invigorate the art market
with iconic styles that reflect the topography and spirit of Australia.
In founding the PADDINGTON ART PRIZE, Marlene Antico has underscored
her commitment to supporting contemporary Australian artists. Aware,
as a gallery director, of the financial concerns that impede many
artists from devoting themselves entirely to their art practice.

The NATIONAL FINALISTS EXHIBITIONS have met with great interest from both established collectors, including Macquarie Bank, and new collectors,
